Intended parents
One coordinator. A small number of families at a time.
Poppy is opening to intended parents soon. We are building our donor and surrogate community first so that when matching opens, there are real people to meet, not a waiting room.

How a Poppy surrogacy works
Five steps. We stay with you through every one.
- 1
Consultation
We start with a call. We talk about your family, your timeline and your budget, and answer your questions plainly. Matching opens soon, so for now this begins with the waitlist.
- 2
Agreements and escrow
You sign an agreement with Poppy and fund an independent escrow account. You also retain your own lawyer. Nothing moves forward until the money is in place and you understand the terms.
- 3
Matching
We introduce you to a surrogate or egg donor whose wishes line up with yours. You read profiles, then meet, usually by video first. A match happens only when both sides say yes.
- 4
Medical and legal
Your surrogate or donor completes medical screening at a partner clinic on the Westside. Separate lawyers draft and review the agreement between you. Once it is signed, the clinic plans the retrieval or embryo transfer. This is a general outline, not legal or medical advice.
- 5
Pregnancy and birth
We stay close through the pregnancy, with regular updates and one person to call. Your lawyer handles the parentage order before the birth. After delivery, we close out payments through escrow and check in with everyone.
Questions people ask
What does Poppy offer intended parents?
We match you with a surrogate or egg donor and coordinate the process from agreements to birth. Every party has a separate lawyer, funds sit in independent escrow, and our partner clinics are on the Westside. We are small on purpose, so you deal with the same people throughout.
When can we start?
Intended parent matching opens soon. For now, join the waitlist and we will contact you before it opens. Joining does not commit you to anything.
How much does it cost?
Costs vary with the medical plan, insurance and how many transfers are needed. Surrogacy in California usually runs well into six figures in total, and egg donation on its own usually costs in the tens of thousands. We give you a written estimate before you sign anything. How does escrow work?
You deposit funds with an independent escrow company, not with Poppy. Payments to the surrogate or donor, and for agreed costs, go out from that account according to the signed agreement. You can see what has been paid and what is left. [[PLACEHOLDER: escrow provider]]
How do we become the legal parents in California?
California law lets intended parents ask a court for a judgment of parentage before the baby is born, often called a pre-birth order. Your lawyer prepares it during the pregnancy so the right names can go on the birth certificate. Each party has a separate lawyer throughout. This is general information, not legal advice.
Do you work with international and LGBTQ+ families?
Yes. We welcome intended parents from other countries, LGBTQ+ couples and single parents. International families should also get advice on citizenship and travel for the baby in their home country, and your lawyer can point you to the right people. This is not legal advice.
